FCC form 601 data

FCC 601

Overview

FCC Form 601 - FCC Application for Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Radio Service Authorization is the current vehicle for applying, modifying, renewing or amending Fixed Microwave licenses – for both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint systems.

The relevant portion of Form 601 to Harris Stratex Networks Customers is Schedule I (“EYE”) — Technical Data Schedule for the Fixed Microwave and Microwave Broadcast Auxiliary Services (Parts 101 and 74).

For the most part, Schedule I requires input of the same technical parameters as its predecessors. This document will provide a template containing the relevant parameters for Harris Stratex Networks products. The technical data is entered on Supplements 1 – 3 on Schedule I.

Schedule I supplements 1 - 3

The technical data input form supplements begin on page 19, with pages 19 – 22 containing customer supplied non-technical data:

  • Administrative information
  • Frequency coordinator information
  • Broadcast auxiliary information (Part 74 Only) 1
  • Control point
  • Location data – usually provided by frequency coordinator
  • Path data
    • Transmit location
    • Transmit antenna
    • Final receiver
  • Passive repeater (PR) data
    • Transmit location
    • Passive repeater location

Schedule I supplement 4

The technical data relevant to Harris Stratex Networks products is entered on the last page (Page 23) of Schedule I into Supplement 4.

This data is provided into the form entitled Frequency Data, and is made up of the following product-specific technical parameters (items in red are product specific):

  • Transmit location name
  • Path number
  • Action – add, modify or delete
  • Lower or center frequency (MHZ) 2
  • Upper frequency (Part 74 only)
  • Frequency tolerance (%)
  • EIRP3 (dBm)
  • Emission designator
  • Baseband digital rate (kbps)
  • Digital modulation type
  • Transmitter manufacturer – Harris Stratex Networks
  • Transmitter model - Harris Stratex Networks equipment ID
  • Automatic transmitter power control – Yes or No answer only

1 Harris Stratex Networks does not currently offer products for Part 74 Applications
2 FCC Part 74 license applications currently require operating frequency to be specified by Lower and Upper frequency boundaries, whereas Part 101 license applications are specified only by center frequency. It should be noted that these rules are currently under review by the FCC and it is very likely that the Part 74 technical rules will be harmonized to conform to those of Part 101 in the near future.
3 The EIRP must be provided from the link calculations provided by the Frequency Coordinator or System Design Engineer.

FCC ET docket 97-94

Effective April 1998 with FCC ET Docket 97-94, certain classifications of non-broadcast transmitters such as Part 101 point-to-point microwave were no longer registered with the FCC. Consequently, the FCC ID (such as the Harris Stratex Networks products with FCC ID starting with "BCK") applies only to Part 101 products with type notification grants issued before that date. After that date Part 101 microwave products fall under the "Verification" procedure where the Equipment ID is assigned by the manufacturer, submitted to the frequency coordinating organizations such as NSMA, and NOT registered with the FCC.

Type Notification & Acceptance Information for Harris Stratex Networks Legacy products in the FCC Equipment Database - This database includes Part 21/94/101 regulated microwave equipment filed between approximately 1985 and April 1998. After this time, the rules changed so that fixed point-to-point microwave regulated now by Part 101 was classified by a new designation called "Verified" that does not require FCC registration.
